The real challenge with outdoor substations is avoiding solar loading or adverse environmental factors such as wind and rain. This can often make gathering of reliable data virtually impossible. The following images were taken under reasonable conditions considering the hot tropical climates of far North Australia. Early morning with minimal wind speed was the best I could achieve. These images were taken using my trusty ThermoPro TP8 and R9 (both which share the same detector and lens assembly). Images show common exceptions found within outdoor substations, typically that of loose or deteriorated connections.
