Infrared Inspection of Electrical Systems Level 1
Infrared Inspections of Electrical Systems – Level 1, is a 16-hour online theory and application course for the use of thermal imaging to locate and evaluate problems in electrical distribution systems. This is a Level 1 certification course focused on a single application.
Course overview

Course code: CITELEC
This course teaches you to use a thermal imager to find and assess faults in electrical distribution systems before they cause failure. You'll learn to read the thermal signatures of loose connections, overloaded circuits, imbalanced loads and failing components across switchgear, transformers, bus, fuses, breakers and cable trays — and, critically, to judge severity and act on what you're seeing rather than just record it.
Beyond the inspection itself, the course covers the standards and safety practices governing electrical thermography, how to gather data that holds up to scrutiny, and how to write reports an asset owner or insurer will accept. It closes with a framework for building an ongoing predictive maintenance program, including where infrared fits alongside other condition-monitoring technologies.
